  Hi everyone, I’m Jo, the editor of Korea Explained. You’ve probably seen plenty of headlines and viral trends about Korea. Here, I want to go one step further by adding context, cultural nuance, and the ideas behind those headlines. Not just what happened, but why it matters and how people interpret it. Each week, I’ll curate a small number of stories, summarize what’s going on, and share the underlying logic that often gets lost in translation. At times, the perspective may be critical, but the goal is simple: to be insightful, engaging, and not draining. A quick note about me. I’ve worked across different parts of the Korean media industry, and I’m also trained as a sociologist. Korea Explained is where I bring those two worlds together: clear storytelling, grounded context, and thoughtful questions. I’ll aim to post about once a week, sometimes more and sometimes less.
